Today is a rhythm day
clapping, slapping, drumming, pounding
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa”
Bang, bang, bang, bang
bang, bang, bang, bang
went the rattle.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey,
gey, gey, gey, gey,
aye, eey, aye, bee
aye, eee, yoooooo, eheeb”
I looked at her, opened my eyes wide
and she stopped singing
She gave me the most gorgeous
toddler smile and guffawed.
We laughed together for almost
five minutes.
