My ideas come like dreams
a project, an art piece
a sculpture
My pain rails against movement
thoughts trapped in my head
pull me down the well
A bottomless well
Watching the rope slip silently
into the darkness I watch
with no plan of escape
the tether attached to my leg falls
with the weight of an unseen anchor
Here we are again.
Fall, depression,
hopelessness
A bird chirps outside
oblivious to my plight
If only I could get up
if only I could take a shower
if only I could complete a piece of art
Desperation allowed me to create a blog
meeting kindred souls and kind folk
buffeting me from the sides of my well
My illness surrounds me on mornings like this:
I wake alone, cold with one bird outside
The train roars in the background like a
thunderstorm rolling in across the sky
The bird is trying to tell me something
is it hungry? is there danger near?
is the world as simple as the bird says?
Wake up today
see the sky brighten
find nourishment
clean wings, preen for self
Interrupted by a bluejay
the dialog ceases
The call of that strident bird
demands respect and silence from
its chatty little neighbor
I was enjoying the conversation
The train calls me now
the weight of freight on the rails
groans as if in pain
My ears plugged, I wonder
how deep am I in the well water?
Simply beautiful

Dear Sheldon, thank you. You remind me that this well has windows. A hand reaches out of one and grabs my hand. Another window reveals a shy smile of hello. I look down and see my anchor was caught by an anonymous pair of arms. I’m never as alone as I feel.

Psalm 121 ~~
“I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from?”
“My help comes from the LORD, he Maker of heaven and earth.”
“He will not let your foot slip — He Who watches over you will neither slumber nor sleep.”
“The LORD watches over you — the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.”
“The LORD will keep you from all harm — He will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
just some words of encouragement for you…

If you continue to use words this way, it will give you the wings you need to save you from the well. Great piece! ❤
