GUILT

Deep seeded feelings of zero worth
contribute to the black hole
that opens under my feet
when I stand up for myself

Yes, the ground is going to
swallow me whole
Am I not here to serve
to function for others
never myself?

Many of my past attempts ended in
soul crushing debates
arguments that proved
my role as an incubator
not a person who gives birth

Better that harm comes to me
than to an employee
my husband
my children

Expendable or just brainwashed?

I was raised to
cook for
clean for
provide for
care for
repair for others

Now I’m learning
to care for
nurture
feed
create
nourish
fertilize
my self

My new whole self
not my old broken self
can teach love and healing
to my children

A work in progress
a never ending journey
to build my absent self esteem

“Day Three: One-Word Inspiration
Prompts come in many different forms. Sometimes, a single word is all you need to get your mind’s wheels turning. Here are six words:
HOPE
REGRET
HOME
CHOICE
SECRET
ABUNDANCE
Select one word in this list that speaks to you in some way. Have you always wanted to write about that one decision that changed your life? Are you a long-term traveler looking for the right city to settle?
The beauty of the one-word prompt is that it’s open to interpretation. What do you think of when you hear this word? What do you see? What do you hear, smell, or remember? This word is simply the seed for your post: no matter your style or genre (personal writing, short story, poetry, academia), you can shape your idea as you see fit.”

Any thoughts on the above post are appreciated! Otherwise, I think I must be living under a rock.
